The national Police ICT Company is now operational following confirmation of its Board of Directors and the launch of its website today. Recruitment for its Chief Executive is also currently underway.
The Association of Police and Crime Commissioner’s ICT Board confirmed the Police ICT Company Board Members at its recent meeting. They are:

  • Alun Michael, South Wales Police and Crime Commissioner
  • Martin Surl, Gloucestershire Police and Crime Commissioner
  • Stephen Greenhalgh, Deputy Mayor for Policing and Crime, London
  • Millie Banerjee, Chair of the British Transport Police Authority
  • Mike Barton, Chief Constable, Durham Constabulary
  • Steve Deakin, Chair of the Chief Information Officers’ Council

The Company has also today launched its website https://ict.police.uk/ designed as a one stop shop for all information relating to the Company and providing all police technology standards in one place. In the coming months, development of the website will continue as the Company grows in order to reflect ongoing feedback from the policing and commercial sectors and allowing the Company to respond to their evolving requirements. The website has been developed by the Metropolitan Police Service in association with the Police ICT Company and the Association of Police and Crime Commissioners.

Nick Alston said: “Since approval was given to establishing the Company work has continued apace and I am delighted that it is now operational. This is the first official step on the road to supporting law enforcement agencies to make the best use of technology to deliver efficient and effective policing in England and Wales.

“This is not about imposing a “one size fits all” solution, but rather an agreed approach which will enable the efficient development of new systems, in particular ensuring the effective flow of information between forces.

“One of the Company’s key tasks now is to appoint an individual with the right skills and experience who can provide leadership, drive innovation and grow the Company into a significant national organisation. An individual with the ability to combine a drive towards long-term vision whilst delivering immediate benefits to forces will be essential.”
